Many of the stars who thrilled the spectators with stunning maneuvers through the Zicatela surf will return for this event, including the Oxbow Style Master, Phil Rajzman of Brazil, and runner up and current world longboard champion Joel Tudor from the U.S.
Also confirmed are Hawaii's Dino Miranda, Duane De Soto and Lance Hookano, Zack Howard and Tyler Jensen (USA) Alex Salazar, the Brazilian veteran, Eurico Goncalves, Portugal and Gerard Weilhein from Venezuela. And there contest can also count on the presence of the formidable Kim Hamrock, the reigning world female longboard champion, who cherishes the opportunity to go up against the men.
Mexico will be represented by Jose Manuel Cano, Rogelio Ramos, Saúl Cadena, Pablo Bonillo and Lázaro Macheto. It is still uncertain whether Puerto Escondido's Angel Salinas, the tournament creator and organizer, will be able to compete in his contest: Angel was one of the 15 surfers invited to take part in Oxbow, but was injured when he fell from the judges' platform while attending to last minute preparations. He was forced to sit it out and watch while his companions wove their magic on his waves.
But even if he is unable to surf, Angel will ensure that his guests
will be warmly received and that we will be provided with an
entertaining display of surfing mastery.
