Sailfish

[pezvela 2005] NOW IN ITS 17TH YEAR, the great Sailfish Hunt, the International Sports Fishing Tournament, is a staple of the Fiestas of November, and it seems to get better and bigger every year.

This year the organizers are baiting the contest with more prizes than ever before and expect a record number of entries. Primarily a sailfish contest, the event also offers prizes for dorado, marlin and tuna.

The entry fee remains the same as last year: $8,000.00 pesos per boat, for three fishermen. A combination registration party and official contest meeting will be held at Restaurant Junto al Mar on Thur, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. where the official rules will be explained. You can sign up here and hire a boat and captain. (Boat and captain will cost another $8,000.00 pesos.) The competition begins at 7 a.m. on Fri, 25 and runs though Sun. 27. All boats must return by 3 p.m. The contest supplies ample entertainment on the jetty and main beach for the crowds who await the boat's return. Pre-registration can made at Assoc. Coop.
