Athabasca Glacier, Banff-Jasper Highway

We stopped for awhile at the icefields, where there wasn't any food store, and from there I was able to shoot the surrounding high peaks. Athabasca Glacier descends from Columbia Icefields, the place is a big tourist mecca with big bus tours right up the glacier. The glacier has significantly retreated since I was young, when the glacier's toe entered Sunwapta Lake at the bottom.

To the left is Mt. Andromeda, with the skyladder climbing route ascending the angled snow patch.
