Madagascar Tour 2010 Day 7 (20101223)

On the last day of our Madagascar tour, we left Tana in the morning for the seven driving hour trip, along the very winding, but well paved, main highway. There was substantial truck traffic, which is ludicrous as there is a functional railway the whole way. Apparently, the national political mafia have a vested interest in the trucking business, which makes sense, as the trucks are mostly all new, contrary to what I would expect in a poor country.

We stopped a few times, including a big stop at Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, where I took a very interesting three hour tour. The one reserve was only 14 hectares, but it was full of interesting wildlife, which makes me wonder what the country would have formerly been like, and once again drastically altered my preconception that Malagasy wildlife would be difficult to spot and shoot
