Mauritius 2010 (20101130)

I went to Maurice on 2010-11-16 to get a new Malagasy visa. Unfortunately, immigration there thought that that my credentials were inadequate, and demanded that I buy a ticket to Canada on the spot before they would let me into their county. Even though I refunded the ticket, that cost me over $350. I had mistakenly thought that their country was tourist friendly, but I am often wrong these days.

Anyway, I spent five days there, and while it was much richer than Madagascar, and somewhat appealing, the tourist experience is generally overrated. The islanders are primarily Hindi Indians who speak French and drive on the left.
