About 19 km west from Limassol, in Southern Cyprus, was Kourion, which was the site for a beach and
ancient Roman ruins. On the hill top lay most the ruins and a huge Roman amphitheater, which had
been restored, and was currently used for cultural performances. A bartender in a bar on the beach
below told me that archeologists believed that as many as a million people may have lived in the
city which would have largely inhabited the plains below the rock bluffs.
