The Greek Archeological Museum in
Athens was a wonderful place. My biggest complaint would be that it was too enormous with so many
beautiful and significant exhibits, that they were almost all obscured in the masses of antiquities.
It was a shame that some could not be in other locations, including where they originally were, to
give them more individual significance.
One statue that particularly appealed to me was the marble Zeus, as it was huge and well sculpted.
The pedestal to the lower right was about 1 m high, so it could help relate the dimensions.
My three fundamental rules for taking photographs, were that the objects had to be old, they had to
be historically significant, and they had to have visual appeal, including colour, to make good
photographs. I think I took about the right quantity, around 150, but I would not take any more
photographs through glass, and I would buy more postcards instead.
