On the road along the river to the Ivoloina Parc, where I might guess the locale is known as
Ivoloina, which seemed to be a French colonial village, as many ruins are visible, the locals seem
to have two basic economies, one based on shovelling sand from the river bottom, and the other
breaking up basalt by hand, as illustrated by these hand made gravel piles
Behind are the village houses, and the large vertical rock which is significant in Malagasy culture,
and seen in many villages
