We met a tour guide in the morning at the oldest fortress in the Americas. After touring the
colonial zone and Tres Ojos caves, Juan drove us to see the "Faro", which can best described as an ugly
fascist era monstrosity dedicated to Cristobol Colon and the Catholic church. The Republica
Dominicana seemed to have a unique reverence for Colon, as most other Latin American countries
generally remember the conquest for what it was
