Madagascar Tour 2010 Day 5 (20101223)

On this day, we left Diego Suarez early, and headed up the mountain past Joffreville, an abandoned colonial French Utopia overridden with squatters, and into Amber Mountain National Park, where I met my guide, Philippe, who was a scientist rather than a naturalist.

The park itself was the most difficult to photograph in, as the tropical forest had a very high canopy with poor light. Interestingly, the area was propagated with many foreign flora, as it was an international garden in colonial times. Many of the common species were unrecognisable due to their massive size.
