It is the most corrupt and authoritarian influence in Mexican finance, justice and government. Most all the wealthy people support the P.R.I., and in turn are supported by it. The money all comes either through corruption, extortion or the government. The net effect is to keep most Mexicans in poverty's shackles indefinitely. The party's power and influence effectively subjugate any attempt at democracy in Mexico.
