One day in Cyprus I felt really adventurous, so I took a bus excursion to the Troodos Mountains, and also visited the Kykkos Monastery. The escorted excursion cost only 7 pounds (C$20), and lasted all day, so it was quite a deal

The third village up the mountain from the north was Pedhoulas, a summer resort famous for its cherries. The white painted church of Archangel Michael stood in the lower part of the village and dated from 1474. Visitors could obtain the church key from an adjacent house, or leave a message for the village priest at the coffee shop, but I could not be bothered, even though the frescoes in the church were supposed to be magnificent. It did not appear that the village had significantly changed in many centuries.
